Bamboo Dinnerware - Suppliers Notes

Our supplier here in Australia has provided the following information relating to the bamboo tableware we sell on our website.  Please read on if you'd like to know a little more about how the bamboo tableware is made.

Eco Impact tableware is considered a more sustainable alternative to dinner ware made from your traditional glass, ceramic or plastics.

Our products launched in 2010 and are made from bamboo, manufactured responsibly by our supplier.  Since then, this company has patents and copyrights on much of their design and the technology used to manufacture this product. We are fortunate to be able to work with them to develop custom products and patterns for our Eco Impact tableware ranges.

We aim to always be developing more sustainable and eco friendly products, with stylish design and practicality in mind.

Our tableware is made up of bamboo fibres (an otherwise waste by-product of the bamboo industry) with a small addition of wood or corn starches, bound with a non-toxic and food safe binder, moulded and baked at high temperatures then any hard edges polished off.

We are often asked about the melamine in our resin and if our products are tested for 100% food safe approval, the answer is YES. Meeting the strictest testing criteria from the FDA & LFGB for food safety, as well as attaining certification from REACH and meeting dishwasher safe standards.

Our products are also free of BPA’s, PVC, Phthalates, Lead, Cadmium and Mercury.

Additionally, our partnered factory complies with SEDEX, ISO 9001, Workplace WCA conditions and the BSCI.

Bamboo is a highly renewable material, and it needs no replanting. Being one of the fastest growing plants it can be harvested in 3-5 years, we consider this an excellent substitution to materials sourced from forestry plantation timber.
